3 Stars Charming but incredibly short…
This is the first that I have ever read anything in the Chicken Soup series, and I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t nearly as saccharine as I expected, and I found several of the handful of stories in this mini-version to be quite touching.
This is a miniaturized version, which means that it includes about five stories and about ten quotes, rather than whatever is usually contained in the standard Chicken Soup books. It’s perfect to have in a bathroom or on a coffee table for some quick reading.
My major complaint with this book, and why I have only given it three stars, is that it is so small and short to be an obvious marketing ploy to convince Chicken Soup fans that they need to buy yet another in this endless series. Though I thought that the content was fine, it is so short to beg the question of whether it was not just another publishing trick to squeeze every last penny out of a successful brand like Chicken Soup. Make the book more substantial, and I’ll be more willing to consider it worthwhile. At the very least, make the book bigger so someone like me with stubby, fat fingers can turn the pages!!
