Chicken Soup for the Mothers of Preschooler’s Soul: Stories to Refresh the Soul and Rekindle the Spirit of Moms of Little Ones (Chicken Soup for the Soul)

What Any Mother of a Preschooler Needs (Besides a Week at a Spa!)

Does your car CD collection range from The Best of Rock-n-Roll Classics to The Best of Barney? Does your idea of a good dinner out mean crayons and paper placemats for all? Can hearing the words, “I love you, Mommy” make your whole day? Then chances are good that you are not only a mother of a preschooler (or soon-to-be one), but that you are in need of some laughter, inspiration and camaraderie from other women who’ve been there.

Let’s face it: Our little bundles of joy and boundless energy don’t come with instructions, and every mom undoubtedly thinks at one time or another: “Am I doing this right?!” In this uplifting collection, you’ll find true stories about the day-to-day minutiae and miracles of being the mom to a preschooler: from finding peace and purpose in what can seem (and look!) like chaos; from solving sibling rivalry to celebrating sibling revelry; from the sorrow of letting go to enjoying some personal independence as your “big kid” goes off to school. Included are stories from well-known MOPS speakers, Lisa Moffitt and Rochelle Nelson.

In just a few minutes of alone time these stories will give mothers of preschoolers a place to release the stresses of their day, connect with other moms who they can relate to and evoke much-needed laughter. Like only Chicken Soup can, these stories will rekindle your sense of self and spirit, and remind you how to enjoy this precious period of time in your life.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Moms, you will survive
Bought this book for my daughter who has two preschoolers and sometimes wonders if she will make it through the day. With the short-story format she can read as much or as little as time (or sleep) allows. It is an encouraging book for Moms and lets them know that they are not alone in this business of child rearing. Other Moms face the same trials and joys and yes, you will survive.

5 Stars A Must Read for Mommies Everywhere
From the moment i read the first story in this book, i was taken aback by its enlightening stories and humoristic style. Nickless takes the Chicken Soup series a step further with stories that not only teach, but also have the uncanny ability to make fun of the trials of being a mom of a little one. Any mother of a preschooler who reads this book will know she is not alone in her journey; and will even find herself having a giggle at her mommyhood struggles.

1 Stars Pushing Christian Agenda
I thought from the discription (which was misleaing) that this was a book for mothers of pre-schoolers. This is actually a book, specifically for MOPS a christian group who go by the same name. Therefore the title is a misnomer. I have read 15 or 20 stories and ALL of them have been about God or refered to God and or “church”. If you happen to be Christian, maybe this is good for you. But don’t believe this is a book for ALL mothers of pre-schoolers, because it’s not!

5 Stars Love it!
As a Mom of a preschooler (and three others under 10 years), I generally don’t have time to myself, much less sit and read. This book caught my eye though - filled with short stories that I can relate to. I find myself picking it up in between laundry or lunch and reading one or two stories at a time - at the end, smiling because I’ve been there or learned something new! I think any Mom - currently with a preschooler or even an older child - would really enjoy taking a little time to read these stories - you (we as Mom’s) deserve it! It’s a great way to treat yourself!

5 Stars Chicken Soup at its Best!
There is no doubt that Chicken Soup books were written with busy moms in mind. Offering small doses of inspiration, hope and simple smiles, Maria Nickless never fails to reach editorial perfection - but this one is a masterpiece.

If you are a mother of young children, don’t miss these comforting confessions from mothers just like you who love, laugh, flounder and forge ahead through the fabulous journey of motherhood.
