Chicken Soup for the Military Wife’s Soul: Stories to Touch the Heart and Rekindle the Spirit

Chicken Soup for the Military Wife’s Soul: Stories to Touch the Heart and Rekindle the Spirit

A tribute to the women who uphold the written and unwritten oaths of service and of marriage.

All military personnel swear an oath to uphold the constitution and protect our country, while their spouses takes the unwritten oath to live a life of frequent moving, lengthy separations and endless anxieties. Their commitment requires a unique blend of patriotism, dedication, hard work and, most of all, flexibility.

The stories in Chicken Soup for the Military Wife’s Soul are written by military family members and the courageous women who themselves serve in the military. They celebrate the women who unite with kindred spirits to raise families, maintain homes and uphold the most positive attitudes when facing the fears of losing a loved one.

Each page in this special volume celebrates the unique bond between military wives and spouses and their dedication to home and country.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great!
Everyone who lives the military life can always use some humor to get them through the crazy times. This book offers that. Great book. I like the fact that it is one you can pick and put down anytime and still enjoy and get something out of it.

4 Stars You’ll Cry…and You’ll probably Relate
I admit I avoided reading this for awhile because I know what happens when I read Chicken Soup books. I cry. And yes, I cried reading this one too. Not every story struck me, but enough of them did to keep me reading.

This is the kind of book it is helpful to turn to if you are a military spouse and feeling a bit overwhelmed and maybe yes resentful at the moment about the challenges of military life. The stories remind us why our spouses serve and what an incredible experience this life…and the military community can provide.

If you aren’t connected to the military, these stories give you some insight (and might make you actually envious of the kinds of deep connections and involvement in something bigger than ourselves that comes from military life.) For readers who loved this, you’ll also love the stories in Household Baggage Handlers: 56 Stories from the Hearts and Lives of Military Wives, edited by Marna A. Krajeski.(2008).

5 Stars Perfect for any Military Wive
This book is touching, compassionate and reinforces why our country is so great! Have a box of tissues near by this one is a tear jerker!

5 Stars great gift
I bought this as a gift for a friend whose husband was in the military for over 30 yrs. She had never heard of this book. Loved it!

5 Stars Awesome Job With This Chicken Soup
I have to say that this has become my favorite Chicken Soup to date. This arrived a couple of weeks before my husband’s deployment. I opened the book and randomly read one of the stories with my husband. We were both in tears within seconds. Being a military wife has its ups and downs and it can be difficult to explain to others the myriad of emotions deployment brings. Reading through this book was just one more thing to bring my husband and I closer together. Knowing that there are other military wives experiencing the same things is a big help. We certainly could do it all alone, but we don’t have to and these stories remind us of that. Great Job!
